Dissections

A vital part of zoology is understanding and comparing the internal and external anatomy of different animals. In order to do this, dissections are necessary. In zoology, students dissect a variety of animals from different phyla including: earth worms, squid, crayfish, sea stars, dogfish sharks, and fetal pigs.

If you are uncomfortable or unable to perform any or all dissections, alternative paper cut-out dissections will be offered. In these "dissections" students create a paper model of the organism that shows the same internal and external anatomy as the preserved specimen.
